THE BREWERY

We are a 6 Barrel Micro Brewery located in Darley Abbey Mills, part of the Derwent Valley Mill World Heritage Site, approximately 1 mile from Derby City Centre (see Location page for map).

The name of the company is taken from the name of the Roman fort built in Little Chester, Derby around AD52-57,  Derventio Coritanorvm. The actual name Derventio is Celtic in Origin from the words dyr “Oak Tree” and venta “market settlement” and literally means “The Market in the Oaks”. The current brewery site is less than 1 mile from the site of the roman fort.

We commenced brewing at the beginning of March 2006 at Trusley Brook Farm, Trusley, Derbyshire and in September 2011 we relocated to our current site.

THE EQUIPMENT

The Brewery Plant was purchased from Porter Brewing Company and has a 5.5 Barrel Capacity.  Dave Porter installed the plant on the 6th and 7th March 2006 with the first beer brewed on the 7th March 2006.

Since the initial installation we have made additions to the equipment, with a major investment in November 2007 to purchase bottling equipment.
